I love sports, I can watch pretty much any kind of competitive event. During the summer, I would live on the golf course if I could. I can't wait for it to get warm again so I can hit the links. I also just love the outdoors, fishing, hiking, camping, all are right up my alley. Along with being outside, I enjoy going to jazz and blues clubs, like Kingston Mines or The Green Mill, as well as hole in the wall pubs or other chill type places.

Let's see I guess I'm an avid concert goer, school work can always wait for a good concert, or even a mediocre one that someone just invited me to cause the person he was going with ditched him. I digest books and music like there's no tomorrow. I heart Fraggles and absolutely adore well-done kids' TV shows, especially the absurdist kind, like SpongeBob SquarePants (from which kids can go directly to Samuel Beckett). I'm a ridiculously huge Polyphonic Spree fan. I've been playing the fiddle, among other instruments, for... ooh, about 20 years now. I'm kind of a science fiction-loving, music-obsessed, hippie-esque, anarchist pseudo-vegan. Oh, and I'm nuts for anything involving Ken Kesey.

Also, Brian Eno probably could describe me best. As he said to the brilliant rock critic Lester Bangs, "I'm terribly attracted to women with ocular damage."

I am married and plan on staying that way but I would like to meet a woman who is drug and disease free, that is needing some real affection outside the home or I guess if you like it could be in the home too. You have heard my story before, my wife doesn't understand me, we don't have the same interests, my wife no longer has any sexual desire but I do. Well in this case only the last part of that is true. We get along great except in the bedroom. This relationship would need to be very discreet.

I like music but don't know much of "top 40" hits but i'm well versed in multiple genre's. I enjoy going to concerts, and new and intresting place. i'm a big fan of referencing cult classics and obscure movies and song lyrics, and loves when people catch the reference.(Who Doesn't?) When it comes to movies and music i feel as if i'm between the cracks of indie and main stream. Even though the mainstreamers have no clue what i'm talking about.

I don't drink but I hang out at bars and dance. Most my friends actually forget I'm sober when were out. I also don't judge if you do and don't mind if you drink in front of me. Don't worry I'm not aa.

I am an avid reader.Most the books i read are fantasy but, i like some realness to them. Meaning, act like a real person; flawed. Martin Millar and Brandon Sanderson are real good with this. If there not flawed than i at least need a deeper meaning or something to think about. (Snow Crash) I would like to find someone who would want to spend some down time just reading together.

I like to draw, and i don't do enough of it.One goal would be to create a short story with my art. My main area of expertise is black and white. This more of a hobby and a way to meditate then it is to become a career.

I recently graduated college from the University of Illinois in engineering and am finally back home. Yes I am kind of a nerd at time but my major is my God given passion. I only have one life so I'm trying to live it to the fullest. I've also traveled a lot and love traveling to new places and having new experiences. I love to laugh a lot!! I enjoy talking and would do it all day and all night if I had the opportunity.

It's really difficult for me to provide a quick summary of myself. I believe that all people tend to be a mix of conflicting desires and impulses, with some feeling it more acutely than others.

In many ways I am a typical midwestern guy. Like most of generation "x-wing" I enjoy Starwars and other sci-fi shows/movies (though I think that Firefly and the Serenity movie were superior in many ways. I also like beer (good micro-brews anyway), rock music, pizza, and girls. Unlike many of my peers, I greatly enjoy classical music (mainly baroque), wines of all kinds (but especially chiante and clear cool sake), and spicy food (most especially Mexican, Thai, and Pakistani). My tastes tend to run to extremes. In the last year or two I have discovered that I love sushi; however, one of my favorite meals is two apples, half a sweet onion, and a small brick of aged cheddar (this is good with water, but much better with wine).

Wake me up. Is the coffee ready? Can I begin my day and start filling my head with stories, old and new, and images that come unexpectedly or orderly. Should I sort away or look and comment. Wish I had an orderly mind but will keep my swiral, bubbly thing.

I am retired and waiting to be intervied by the State Care. Will I go through door #1 and continue, or door #2 and get ready to expire. Depends on what is cheaper, oh, cost effective. I have been there before, but escaped. This time, though, the State will be much more efficient. That is their promise.

I'm a smart, loquacious guy with very liberal views on just about everything, I'm the exception to almost every rule, and on a good day I tend to make conservatives cringe openly and people who like quiet very annoyed. Not that I don't enjoy quiet time, but I don't believe progress is made by being silent and keeping your views to yourself. Not that I don't ever exercise restraint, either--just rarely. I was and am becoming again a dedicated cyclist, though Chicago temperatures being what they have been lately my exercise is increasingly limited to the healthclub. Part of the reason I join dating sites isn't so much to date as to write--I had something my doctors call a "neurological incident" but which any normal person would call a stroke three years ago, and I suddenly found myself unable to decipher written language--which since I was used to reading three books a week and wrote as a profession posed certain difficulties. I also lost beaucoup memories--mainly ones form the mid-to-late 90s and from grade school, but the incidents of loss are spread widely over most of my history, and over time I keep having to sort out what I'm missing. Obviously I've recovered the skills I lost but reading is still painfully slow for me, at least compared to what I'm used to, so I'm only back up to a book every ten days, and hopefully will be up to where I was by mid 2010. For the record, I am not likely to have one of these "Neurological Incidents" again--apparently it was a fluke related to a head injury I incurred in the early 90s that suddenly popped, and now it's all good. I don't do well in relationships with women who have agendas, mainly because I don't enjoy following a prescribed path, which has allowed me to have a truly adventurous and storied life, not just relationship-wise, either, although for the time being my adventures are somewhat tamer because I have family commitments and health issues that require the majority of my attention.

I am still recovering from an illness that took six years of my life (Yes, I'm cured of the illness. Recovery is a bitch and a half with a bad mullet, though.) The way I look at it, my age is actually 34. I am recovering quickly, losing the AWFUL Prednisone and lack-of-any-physical-activity-whatsoever weight quickly, and by April I am determined to be back in a shape I feel comfortable in. I have too much on my plate to engage in anything more than the most superficial romantic relations, and so for now, friendship with potential is about all I'm cut out for. I should add that the potential, once realized, will likely be great and wondrous to behold. Okay, that's dren, but it sounded good. Relationships are what they are. They can be wild an crazy, deep and meaningful, contentious and heartbreaking, and that's all in one day. I have lots of work to do to get back to where I want to be, but I'm halfway there already and the work is the kind I'm loving doing, so ultimately I win!

I spend a lot of time in my head. Thinking, reading, composing, analyzing, arranging, building models of situations, people, individuals and groups. I people watch. I'm usually the guy that takes control of the room when verbal skills are required, and I can get awkward when those skills aren't called for. I like to spend a lot of time alone for this reason, but still am VERY social ordinarily. The Illness, as I call it, took the wind out of my sails for a while--not a lot of enjoyable socializing gets done when you've got tubes and needles in you, and the whole flirting-with-the-nurse thing is just creepy. I am now working out for three hours minimum every day, cycling two hours (when it isn't raining, snowing, or just plain too cold), and taking care of my Grandma for 2-3 hours daily after her stroke. If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be alive, so it seems fair to me that I do as much as I can for her.

There is something I probably should point out that is quite possibly a dealbreaker. If you think Arizona is a magical place (other than the canyon, the painted desert, and the caverns) and it's people wonderful, the likelihood that we'll be good together diminishes significantly. I personally would prefer that we send all the weird crazy conservatives we've seen teabagging across the country there, then sell it to China and be done with the place. I lived in Tucson for six of the worst years of my life and have no interest in ever returning unless it's to be actively involved in the China sale. I'm not saying there are no good people there or that certain aspects of it aren't gorgeous (see above), but it's full of crazy, and as a rule the people I've met who rave about the place turn out to be just as nuts. The place is dren, and rather than acknowledge its merits I'd prefer to put a fence around it and make it a prison, the way Sheriff Joe would like to have it....
